What We Do

We're a new small press whose goal is to publish diverse, inclusive adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction in print, ebook, and (eventually!) audiobook formats.

We're committed to creating a positive impact not just on the LGBTQIA+ community, but on the world by making it a safer and more welcoming space for everyone. The physically diverse and queer books that we accept are not to fill any quota; it is our entire focus.

Our team of editors is dedicated to helping our authors to not just write a book, but to write the best book they possibly can. Through our editing process of developmental edits, copy edits, and finally proofreading edits, we aim to help our authors produce their best work.

Our Mission

Our mission is twofold.

Firstly, we want to fill the world with more inclusive and diverse literature. We want our books to support not only the LGBTQIA+ community, but also racial and physical diversity. It is important for people to see themselves reflected in literature.

Secondly, we want to support our authors. We want to invest in them to not only publish one great book, but many! It is our hope and plan to give our authors greater returns when they publish with us than with other publishing companies. We want our authors to be able to make writing their whole career if they so choose.

How We Started

America and Julia both came from orthodox Christian households that adamantly taught that being gay was a sin next to murder (no joke!) They are both late-in-life-lesbians and came out of the closet while simultaneously coming out of their religion. Once out, they quickly discovered that there was a shortage of LGBTQIA+ representation in books and are working to fill that gap.

While it is true that certainly publishing companies do publish queer books (thank goodness!) it isn't enough! The biggest focus of Edina Publishers is to normalize LGBTQ+ individuals in literature to help encourage the type of world that we (and so many others) want to live in.
